Mike Delgado started working on garage doors in 2011 as a technician for a national chain serving the Kansas City metro. He learned the trade thoroughly — springs, openers, new installations, commercial doors — but grew frustrated with the franchise model: call centers that overpromised on scheduling, flat-rate pricing that pushed technicians to upsell, and customers who felt pressured into replacing things that could have been repaired.
In 2015 he went independent and founded Garage Door Repair KC. The idea was simple: answer your own phone, show up when you say you will, give an honest assessment, and charge a fair price. No trip fees. No bait-and-switch. Written estimates before any work begins.
